KANN is the first Astell&Kern product to be equipped with a "line-out" circuit whose output layer can be adjusted in four different ways according to the user's listening preference. This feature is a very superior step compared to products that did not provide output/volume adjustment before. With this selectable output feature, you can listen to KANN with your home hi-fi system, in your car or with your headphones.
It also supports KANN Astell&Kern's 2.5mm 4-pole balanced (2Vrms) output. Unlike the unbalanced output, the balanced output separates the noise (common mode noise) from the “signal + inverting amplifier signal” and increases the output power thanks to its dual-layer signal carrying capability.

KANN provides transmission as DoP (DSD over PCM) or PCM by adjusting the output conversion according to the characteristics of the device it is connected to. In addition, while charging from the USB Type-C port, it continues to transmit signals to the USB audio device it is connected to via USB.
- USB audio (Digital output) can only be used with devices with digital input via USB.
- DoP (DSD over PCM): This method is a standard for transmitting DSD data over the USB interface. This standard DSD sends data by loading it into PCM data frames.
- An OTG cable (not included) is required to connect KANN to an external USB audio device.
