How to Create a Guest Wifi Network?
Configuring the router (RUTX)
Before you start configuring the router , turn on “Advanced WebUI” mode . You can do this by clicking the “Basic” button under “Mode” located in the upper right corner of the WebUI.
Log in to the router's WebUI, go to Network → Wireless page. Click Add . You can use 2.4GHz or 5GHz WiFi. You will then be directed to the configuration window.
General Setup In the tab enable the following steps :
- Activate the example .
- Select Access Point mode.
- Enter a custom ESSID .
- Expand the Network drop-down menu.
- Uncheck Lan interface.
- Create a new interface, enter a special name ( Guest)
Switch to the Wireless Security tab and do the following:
- Select the encryption type.
- Select the encryption type.
- Enter the key .
- Save&Apply Changes.
Go to Network → Interfaces and click Edit next to the LAN interface you just created. then press,
In the General settings section, follow these steps:
- Select Protocol – Static. Confirm by clicking “CHANGE PROTOCOL”.
- Enter an IPv4 address .
- Enter an IPv4 netmask .
- Enable DHCP server .
- Press Save&Apply .
Go to Network → Firewall → General Settings .
Create a new Zone rule by pressing the add button there. You will then be directed to the configuration window.
On the REGION page, do the following:
- Enter a Custom Name .
- Add the newly created “Guest” LAN to Covered networks .
- For Allow forwarding to target regions, select WAN interfaces.
- For Allow routing from target zones, select WAN interfaces.
- Save&Apply Changes.
On the TRAFFIC RULES page, do the following:
- Activate the instance .
- Change the target region to “Device (input)” .
- Enter the Destination port to reject. By default, ports 22, 80, 443 are used to access the web UI and SSH.
- Change the action to “Reject” .
- Save&Apply Changes.
